Thanksgiving Crafts for Your Little Turkeys that Encourage Gratitude
Gratitude. Giving thanks.

We want to instill these values in our little ones from an early age. Talking about gratitude and being thankful for things can be challenging for toddlers and preschoolers to understand, but when we combine talking about thankfulness with crafts it’s not only fun, but it may help the concepts really sink in.

Practicing these values is important year-round, yet, with Thanksgiving right around the corner, this time of year is one where we focus even more on giving thanks.

We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite crafts to do with your toddlers and preschoolers.

As always, mostly mess-free and only require a few items to create! 🙂

Autumn handprint tree

Handprint Tree: This autumn tree activity would provide a creative opportunity for the children at the preschool. It is fun to use their own handprint and fingerprints to create the picture. This would definitely be a DAP activity.:

As you’re working on these crafts, encourage your kids to think and talk about things they are thankful for.

Strategies for Encouraging Gratitude

There are many ways you can help your toddlers and preschoolers practice being thankful.

Consider helping others through a TOAM event. You could also encourage your littlest ones to help do household chores or clean out their toys to share with other kids. Even yoga and meditation promote feelings of gratitude.

We love Thanksgiving and the positive message it brings of giving thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you have a wonderful time with your loved ones.
