Two years ago when Little Sprouts Play Cafe opened, we couldn’t have imagined how much fun it would be to spend our days playing with you and your kids. We interviewed the owner, Adrienne Shea, for her thoughts on celebrating the second birthday of Little Sprouts Play Cafe!
Why did you open Little Sprouts Play Cafe?
My kids were the initial inspiration for opening Little Sprouts Play Cafe. At the time, they were 2 & 3 years old, and I struggled with where to take them to play. I wanted a space that was stimulating, safe for their age, comfortable for me, and available for us to drop-in anytime. After talking with friends, it sounded like other people craved a similar space. The problem was… nothing existed like that near us. I then took everything I wanted out of a play area and put it into a plan for Little Sprouts. A year later, we opened our doors.
I haven’t visited Little Sprouts, tell me about it!
Ooh… where to begin! For starters, we’re a play cafe, ideal for children up to 6 years old. Our space strives to encourage imagination inspired play for our young guests in a safe, clean environment. We have a constantly rotating selection of toys, pretend play stations, books, and more. While kids play, parents are welcome to enjoy our free Stone Creek drip coffee, free WI-FI, order food off our healthy menu, and sip on a latte.
But, we’re more than just play! We offer a weekly variety of drop-in classes, specials, and events. Plus, we’re a favorite spot for birthday parties. Just ask the Shepherd Express and Winnie! We’re consistently family favorites in their ‘Best Of’ awards for family fun and birthday party venues.
How can I find out about your events and workshops?
Visit our website calendar! That’s the best spot. Every event, workshop, and party we host is on that calendar. Many events also get emailed out to our Play List – our email list. You can subscribe to that email list at our space or on our website. If you follow our Facebook and Instagram, we post many events there too.
What are you most proud of in this venture?
I’m most proud of the sense of community we’ve created. Being a parent to a young child can be quite isolating and challenging. We’ve been able to give parents a place to gather and meet with others. We’ve watched strangers become friends in our space. And, we’ve created quite a wonderful group of our own friends here too. There’s nothing better than feeling welcome!
What’s the future for Little Sprouts Play Cafe?
Oh, gosh. This question feels intimidating. I’d love for us to continue growing – both through pushing ideas in our current space and possibly through expanding to new cities.
For the foreseeable future, I have a bunch of different workshops and pretend play stations that I’d love to create. The plan is to get those all planned out through summer. So, you guys should be seeing some more fun things in our space coming up!
Anything else I should know?
I’m just eternally grateful for the families that support us, the super creative kids we see every day, and our fantastic staff. I couldn’t have even dreamed about how fun this experience would become.
Cheers to the next year!
Thank you for all of your support over the last two years. We are so excited for all that is to come. We hope you’ll continue to stop by and play and enjoy all the events and activities we have planned.
